The first Asia Pacific Chapter of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association was established in 2005 in Hong Kong and became an official Chapter with effect from 1st January 2006. Alan Jeffries and Paul Jackson were the driving force behind this, together with support from the Northeast Chapter and in particular, Anthony Reyes. Alan Jeffries won a coin-toss to become the inaugural president, and the first committee was established as follows:
- President - Mr. Alan Jeffries
- 1st Vice President - Mr. Paul Jackson
- 2nd Vice President - Mr. Anthony Fung
- Secretary - Mr. David Leung
- Treasurer - Mr. Fred Chan
Alan Jeffries served as Chapter President through 2006 and 2007, presiding over the first HTCIA Asia Pacific Training Conference in December 2007. The following is a list of Presidents since the inauguration of the Chapter.
- Alan Jeffries - 2006/07
- Paul Jackson - 2008/09
- Richard Kershaw - 2010/11
- Frank Law - 2012/13
- Anthony Taylor - 2014
- Paul Taylor - 2015/16
The success of the Asia Pacific Chapter has spun off the formation of two new Chapters - Australia and Singapore. This allows more members throughout the region to attend training events in person, and the HTCIA will continue to seek growth within Asia Pacific.
